Our Consultation Program

This program is for therapists who have completed an EMDR training. After EMDR Training is completed and you receive your certificate of completion, you can continue your journey through consultation with an EMDRIA Consultant.

We developed a program to guide you through the 8 phases & 3-pronged approach of EMDR Therapy to help you consolidate information from training and integrate EMDR Therapy into your therapeutic practice.

Our goal is to assist you to build a solid foundation in EMDR Therapy that will support you and your clients. Throughout your consultation journey, we will emphasize being a mindful, intentional therapist grounded in the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model developed by Francine Shapiro.

We are here to build you up, support you, encourage you, and develop your EMDR Therapy skills.

Learning Methods

  • Group and Individual consultation options

  • Group consultation sessions facilitated by an EMDRIA Approved Consultant or Consultant-in-Training, where you integrate and consolidate your learning through applying EMDR to therapy cases from your workplace setting

  • Individual consultation with an EMDRIA Approved Consultant or Consultant-in-Training (minimum 10 hours required to apply for EMDRIA - EMDR Certified Therapist status)

EMDR therapy has been an invaluable addition to my clinical practice, offering versatility and integration with various therapeutic models. Like many therapists, I initially felt overwhelmed after completing EMDR training, unsure of how to incorporate this powerful approach into client work. Consultation was the key to developing my knowledge and confidence in EMDR therapy, ultimately leading me to become an EMDR Certified Therapist, EMDR Consultant (EMDRIA), and EMDR Trainer (EMDRIA).

Through my journey, I’ve been fortunate to receive guidance from EMDR consultants, collaborate with EMDR-trained peers, and engage with EMDR professional communities such as EMDR Canada, EMDRIA, and local peer groups. These experiences inspired me to develop a structured EMDR consultation program for therapists seeking EMDR certification and skill enhancement.

Our team is committed to providing supportive and expert consultation for EMDR-trained therapists who want to refine their practice and work toward certification. Whether you’re just starting or looking to advance your EMDR skills, we’re here to help you navigate the process with confidence.

We’d be honoured to support you on your EMDR journey.”

The next optional step after EMDR Basic training is to work toward EMDRIA Certification.

EMDRIA uses a competency-based model for certification as an EMDR Certified Therapist. You do not need to be certified to practice EMDR Therapy after completion of EMDR Basic training. After Basic Training you are considered an EMDR Trained Therapist.

EMDR Certification - For the purpose of becoming an EMDR Certified Therapist by the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA link) the following are required:

  • Completion of an EMDRIA approved EMDR Training (instructional, practicum, and 10 group consultation hours)

  • Be independently registered as a mental health professional at time of application

  • EMDRIA requires a minimum of 20 hours of consultation (post training) with an EMDRIA Approved Consultant or Consultant-in-Training

  • EMDRIA requires a minimum of 10 hours be through individual (one-on-one) consultation

  • 10 hours may be through group consultation - learning from other therapists and their case conceptualizations and experiences can be very helpful!

  • 12 hours of EMDRIA approved continuing education credits (typically advanced topics)

  • 50 EMDR sessions with at least 25 clients

  • Letters of recommendation
